6 Questions about Intimate Hygiene We Hesitate to

by Karan Gupta 02 Dec 2022

Imagine a bright sunny day with lovely weather. It's the weekend, so you got up late and made plans for a delicious brunch with your friends. Suddenly in the middle of the brunch, you smell something fishy and realize it's coming from down there. Sounds like a familiar situation?

Earlier, women used to run to the washroom several times to wash their vagina; some even used perfumes and talcum powders. But are you using the right method to eliminate the foul odour from your private parts?

The answer would be "No". Your skin down there is very delicate and sensitive. Therefore, chemical products or random experiments can cause serious health issues. The reason behind this is a lack of awareness and hesitation to ask questions about your personal hygiene.

In this article, we will discuss some questions women hesitate to ask about intimate hygiene.

1) What are the intimate wipes?

Intimate wipes clean the privates of women who have given birth. These wipes can be used on a woman's vagina and anus. Intimate wipes are made of soft, moist tissue paper intended for use on the private parts of humans. They come in handy when cleaning up after a bowel movement or using the toilet. The main difference between regular toilet paper and intimate wipes is that the latter is made from soft material that is not abrasive. The tissues are also available in different sizes and shapes for different purposes. Intimate wipes come in different types, such as baby wipes, facial wipes, wet ones and dry ones, depending on their purpose and usage. Some of them may contain chemicals or bleaches that can harm your skin if you use them regularly and carelessly.

2) Can wipes be used on private parts?

Yes, they can be used on private parts. However, it is best to avoid using them on the genitals. Oral gels and feminine wipes are more suitable for this purpose. Wipes can be used on private parts only if designed for this purpose. In some cases, a wipe is designed to remove blood and other fluids from the body. The wipes should be moistened with water before being used on the skin. You can use them for cleaning the outer genitals and for cleaning the inside of your vagina or anus. Consider taking a shower before using them so that they can be more effective.

3) Are intimate wipes good?

In general, the answer is yes. But there are some products that you should avoid. These include feminine wipes, which often contain alcohol-based or non-alcohol-based sanitizers and other ingredients that may cause irritation or genital rashes if used excessively or in sensitive areas like the vulva or anus. In most cases, personal wipes are not designed to be used on the genital area. It’s important to note that wipes should never be used as a substitute for proper hygiene practices. If you want to use wipes on your private parts, it’s recommended that you purchase a product specifically designed for this purpose.

4) Is it important to use intimate wipes or wash after every intercourse?

It’s also important to note that using an intimate wipe is not necessary every time you have sex. After all, there are other ways to clean up yourself, such as using toilet paper or even tissues. However, if you have difficulty removing certain stains from your clothing or body, then an intimate wipe may be just what you need. Also, it is necessary to pee before and after sex. After peeing, wash your private parts and wipe from front to back. Using intimate wipes after intercourse helps maintain the pH balance and prevents STDs.

5) What wipes can I use for down there?

Non-alcoholic cotton wipes are the best for your private parts. These wipes can have a refreshing fragrance, but try to avoid any additional smell and flavour because it can cause a burning sensation in your vulva. You can first wash your vulva with a mild soap or an intimate wash and then wipe it well with chemical-free wipes like andMe's intimate wipes and wash. These toxin-free products contain the goodness of tea tree oil, lotus seed, and aloe vera extract; the anti-fungal properties of these ingredients prevent bacteria buildup and nourish the skin. So, if you are confused among tons of options and still wondering, "Which is the best intimate wash?" now you know the answer.

6) How to prevent rashes in the vagina during or after periods?

Sometimes period blood and sweat can cause itchiness and irritation in your private parts. More than washing with soap and warm water is required to ensure a hassle-free day. Here are some tips to prevent rashes during periods:

  • Wear period panties; these underwear are specially designed to soak the blood without causing any discomfort.
  • Change your pads every 6 hours.
  • Avoid skinny jeans or bottoms during the cycle.
  • Keep yourself moisture-free.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
