Managing Hair Fall in Winter

Hairfall is a quintessential part of winter. It is pretty natural and normal, but if you notice excessive hairfall with dandruff and itching, it could be due to scalp infections or scalp diseases. Hairfall is common in winter due to changes in weather and pollution, which disturb the average health of hair.

The regular health of hair is not maintained during winter. The main reason for hairfall is improper diet and lack of exercise, leading to an imbalance of nutrients. Toxins like cigarette smoke, dust and chemicals from various sources also cause hairfall. Therefore, we need to take proper care of our scalp to avoid hair loss.

Hairfall? Let's find out why!

Don't panic if you notice excessive hair fall. First of all, it is essential to identify the cause of hair fall without any delay.

You can observe the following symptoms on your scalp to determine the cause:

Headache: If you experience headache and hair fall, it can be due to stress. Stress could also be a reason behind excessive hair fall, resulting in dandruff and itchiness.

Dandruff: Excessive dandruff is another symptom that indicates disorders in your scalp. You should immediately consult a dermatologist to treat it as early as possible because dandruff can lead to more severe problems like fungal infections of the scalp.

Itchiness: Your scalp becomes dry during winter, and if you have an oily scalp, it makes your scalp dry even more, which causes itchiness and hairfall.

Hormonal issuesSometimes, hormonal imbalance disorders like PCOS or thyroid also causes hairfall. It happens due to the lower secretion of Estrogen and higher secretion of Androgen. However, PCOS hairfall has a solution. You can drink natural health supplements like andMe's Ayurveda enriched drink for PCOS. It is 100% vegan and leaves no side effects on your health.

How to prevent hairfall?

  1. Have a healthy diet: The intake of green leafy vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and yoghurt helps prevent hair fall. Include seafood and coconut oil or olive oil in your diet as they are rich in vitamin E that can help reduce hair fall.

  2. Drink plenty of water: Water helps keep the scalp clean by removing excess sebum from the scalp and cleanses the liver that produces blood to nourish our body parts, including the scalp.

  3. Avoid applying heat directly on the scalp: Applying heat directly on the scalp can damage hair roots and cause dryness leading to further problems like dandruff and dullness of hairs.

  4. Aloe Vera juice: Aloe-Vera juice has many medicinal properties that help treat hair loss problems. Aloe Vera juice reduces the dryness of hair caused by cold winds, sun rays or pollution. It moisturizes your scalp and strengthens your roots, making them healthy and strong. This makes your hair grow longer and thicker. Regular use of Aloe Vera juice will also reduce dandruff and prevent it from appearing again.

  5. Always cover your head: Don't go out without covering your head or wearing a scarf. A cap will do just fine! In addition, try to wear hats daily during winter. This will help keep your head warm and prevent hair damage caused by exposure to extreme wind or cold weather.

  6. Eat vitamin-enriched food: Increase your intake of Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, Iron, Zinc and protein-rich sources like milk, eggs, fish etc. These nutrients are essential for the healthy growth of hair. You can also include fresh fruits like papaya, avocado, figs etc., which are rich sources of Vitamin C and B-complex vitamins.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
