[article]
The periodic changes in a woman’s body is associated with monthly bleeding and that is not the same for every woman.
This cyclic change is called as menstrual cycle. Basically, it is the shedding of the inner lining of the uterus that is given out by the body as menstrual blood.
There are 4 phases of menstrual cycle in 1 month:
- Bleeding phase (day 0-8)– The beginning phase. this may last up to 8 days
- Follicular phase (day 9-13) – In this phase, there is proliferation of uterine walls and stimulation of certain hormones

- Luteal phase (day 15-28) – In this phase, the lining of your uterus normally gets thicker to prepare for a possible pregnancy. This lasts till the end of the every cycle and before the bleeding phase of the next.
However, these days don’t coincide every month. For a healthy woman, period dates don’t vary much but for some it may differ every other month.
